Story Representation Mechanism and Context 2011, Workshop to be held in Conjunction with ACM MM 2011

 

Call for Papers

This half-day workshop will foster discussion on issues related to story generation, representation, discovery and understanding. We invite regular and position papers as well as demonstrations or posters (accompanied by descriptive papers) on relevant topics.

Topics

  1. Capture/sensing: life caching, aggregating experiential data
  2. Generation: new computational frameworks and knowledge resources for story creation
  3. Summarization: salience of story components, story facets/viewpoint
  4. Representation: story structure, rules and heuristics
  5. Applications: new technologies and platforms for supporting user engagement with computational stories
  6. Multimedia storage, management and retrieval using story models
  7. Networks: community centric storytelling, emergent knowledge networks
  8. Affective: emotion design for storytelling
  9. Mobile: storytelling experiences and frameworks for mobile devices.
  10. Authoring: Interactive and pro-active authoring environments

Important Dates

  • June 19th 2011 Extended: July 11th 2011: Submission deadline.
  • July 6th 2011: Register Paper for Workshop Submission
  • July 30th 2011 August 12th 2011: Notification of acceptance.
  • September 5th 2011: Camera-ready submission deadline

Submission Information

Submissions must strictly adhere to page limits (max 6 pages.) All papers must be submitted in an electronic format which conforms to the ACM proceedings style and submitted as PDF file. Contributions must be original and must not be published or under consideration elsewhere. The ACM MM 2011 website contains detailed instructions for formatting your submission.

Workshop papers should be submitted through the ACM MM Conference Management Tool in PDF format. Please make all submissions directly to: https://cmt.research.microsoft.com/ACMMMWS2011/

Review and Publication

Each submission will be peer reviewed by at least two PC members for originality, significance, clarity, soundness, relevance and technical contents. Accepted papers will be indexed within the ACM Digital Library and published in the ACM Multimedia 2011 proceedings.
